Boosters

Golden Valley High School 2010-2011 Boosters

Mission

The Golden Valley Band Booster Organization is the parent group of the band. All parents of band students are automatically members once their students are enrolled in the program. Meetings are held once a month, on the first Tuesday of each month in the band room. At these meetings, issues are discussed, fund raising projects are organized, and ways to help facilitate the band are planned. The more parent support we have in the Band Booster Organization, the more opportunities our students will have in the band program. Parents are asked to volunteer to help with at least two band functions each year. To sign up, please attend the meetings and complete the applicable sign up sheet, or go to our contacts page and email our VP of Fundraising or Booster President.

Board of Directors
A Board of Directors is elected in June of each year to lead meetings and to help in organizing parent help for fundraising activities, trip arrangements, and in goal setting. The Golden Valley High School Band and Color Guard Booster Organization Board of Directors is made up of no fewer than four members. Officers include: President, Vice-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. As times dictate, other officers may be added to the executive board such as uniform, publicity or transportation coordinator.

Booster Meetings will be held the 1st Tuesday of each month,  but with some exceptions.  Please see calendar for details….

What is Boosters?

Boosters is a parent organization that supports students in the various band and color guard programs. They aid in several things: fundraising, transportation, support, food and snacks, scholarships, etc.

How do I join?

This is the easy one! If your student is in the band or flag program you are a member of the Booster Organization. Whether you are an active or inactive member is up to you but, your name does appear on the roster!

How do I get involved?

Booster parent meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every month at 7:00pm in the Band Room (Room # 607).To receive emailed update and reminders please register your email address with this site on the home page.

What if I can't pay the fees?

We can definitely work things out. Payments arrangements can be made as long as they are in writing and signed by the parents. We also have a small scholarship fund for students in need. Scholarship forms will be available next week. I grew up in a family with 6 very active kids. I know money can be tight, and I would never want to put undue burden on anyone. Please let me know whatever I can do to help.

Band Help Always Needed!

Every band student and color guard person is required to bring in at least 2 cases of bottled water and two large Costco/Sam's Club size granola snack bars or non-chocolate non-staining snack every year. We ask for these items because during marching season it is hot and students go long periods of time in uniform so we need to be able to give them a drink and a snack at games and competitions. There will be an item sign in sheet available on the door of the snack and water storage room for you or your student to fill in when the items are dropped off.

Chaperones

We are also always in need of chaperones for games and competitions. Chaperone duties can include such things as shoe distribution and collection, uniform dressing and undressing, for our able bodies loading and unloading of trucks, riding the buses, and general student chaperone duties. There is usually a sign-up sheet for this but any board member can be contacted or worst case scenario is you just show up and be the help that was needed to save the day.

Financial Help

The Band is always looking for donations and financial assistance, so if you work for a company you think may be willing to donate some money to band, whatever the amount,  just ask any board member for a donations letter. As always our children need our help to be successful, so give where and whenever you can to the Golden Valley High School "Grizzly" bands and color guard.
